Natural Stone Disclaimer

Natural stone is a quarried material. The following characteristics are inherent to it, are not defects, and are accepted as part of a made-to-order stone purchase:

Variation between blocks and slabs in veining, tone, figuring and background colour, including variation from website photography and from samples. Natural features such as veins, mineral concentrations, fossil traces, filled porosity (notably in travertine) and small surface pits consistent with the stone type and agreed finish. Directional pattern that differs across faces of the same piece. Gradual patina in use: softening of finish in high-contact areas, and the etching behaviour of calcium-based stones in contact with acids. Weight and small dimensional tolerances stated on the production drawing.

We manage variation rather than deny it: material for veined pieces is photographed for your confirmation before cutting, finishes and filling are stated on the drawing, and care guidance ships with every piece. Claims are assessed against the approved drawing and the standards of the stone type, as set out in Warranty & Claims.
